On Jan 14, 2020, CNIPA announced official statistics in a press conference. In 2019, CNIPA received 1.401 million invention patent applications, 9% drop from 2018. CNIPA concluded the examination of 1.023 million applications and granted 453,000 invention patents, which means the issue rate was only 44.3%.

Utility model patent issue rate is 79.9% and that for design patent is 74.9%.
