Xiamen Power E Technology sued LG Electronics (Tianjin) for infringing on its utility model 201220223855.0 and LG tried to invalidates this utility model. Both cases were appealed to the Supreme Court, in August and September 2019, respectively. On October 22, a joint pre-trial meeting was held combining both cases and on October 23, a trial was held. On December 5, decisions on both cases were made, separately. The utility model was held valid and LG was found not infringing.

This is the first IP case which combines civil litigation with administrative litigation in contrast to the bifurcation system which has been adopted by Chinese courts.
