On July 28, 2020, Shanghai Pudong Court sentenced 35 Chinese individuals to imprisonment for counterfeiting Dyson trademark.

The counterfeiters were found to have made and sold counterfeit Dyson hair dryers which constituted crime of counterfeiting registered trademarks. The illegal sale amounted to RMB13.5 million (US$1.9 million).

The principle offender FANG was sentenced to 6 years in prison and imposed a fine of RMB 5 million (US$714,000). The accessory offender XIE was sentenced to 5 years in prison and imposed a fine of RMB 1.6 million (US$228,000). These 35 persons were sentenced to 1.5 to 6 years in prison respectively and a total fine amounted to RMB 10,080,000 (US$1,440,000).
