In the first half of 2020, 683,000 invention patent applications were filed with CNIPA and 217,000 invention patents were granted. CNIPA received 26,200 patent reexamination (appeal) requests and concluded 25,700 cases. 2,600 invalidation requests were received and 4,300 were concluded. Pendency for invention patent application is 20.3 months, utility model 6.4 months and design 3.2 months.

4.284 million trademark applications were filed in the first half of 2020 and 2.629 million trademarks were registered. 166,000 trademark review cases were received and 192,000 cases were concluded. The average examination period for trademark application is within 4.5 months.
